Sony Ships 60.4 Million PS4 Consoles Worldwide

Company also reports 70 million active PSN users, 26.40 million PS Plus users

Sony revealed on Tuesday that the company has shipped a total of 60.4 million PlayStation 4 units worldwide as of June 11. Sony has also sold over 487.80 million units of software items for PS4 in physical stores and on its online PlayStation Store as of June 11. Sony reported that there are over 70 million active users of its PlayStation Network online service across different platforms, and over 26.40 million users for its paid PlayStation Plus service.

The PlayStation 4 console first launched in the U.S. and Canada in November 2013 and in Japan in February 2014. Sony shipped 7.5 million PS4 units in fiscal year 2013, and 14.8 million units in fiscal year 2014. Sony's new financial results for the 2016 fiscal year revealed that the PlayStation 4 shipped 17.7 million consoles during fiscal year 2015, and 20.0 million consoles during fiscal year 2016. The combined total of consoles shipped worldwide between fiscal years 2013-2016 is 60 million.

The company forecasted that it will ship 18 million PlayStation 4 consoles during fiscal year 2017, which began on April 1, 2017 and ends on March 31, 2018.

Sony has also sold over 1 million PlayStation VRs worldwide as of June 5.
