Language quiz 23 April 2017 By Simon Here’s a recording of in a mystery language. Can you identify the language, and do you know where it’s spoken?
Absolutely no idea, but the “mais” at 10 seconds makes me think that it might be an african language from an former French Colony. Wolof?
I also thought Sub-Saharan Africa + French influence, but if it’s a French-based creole, it’s really pretty far removed from Standard French.
It is spoken in a former French colony – Benin, and also in Nigeria, but is not a French-based creole.
The frequent occurence of nasal vowels makes me think that it might be Boko or an other Mande language.

Yeah, I’ll guess “some French Creole”. Pretty sure I heard “il a oublié” in there too.
I thought I heard a seven vowel system, which suggests sub-Saharan Africa.
