The DC Comic series has been a hit across the pond, but what's it about, and who stars in the show? Here's what you need to know.
When was Black Lightning released on Netflix?
The superhero series became available to stream on Netflix on Tuesday, January 23.
A new episode will drop each week on a Tuesday so it's not an immediate binge-fest like other series on the streaming service.
The series is set to be 13 episodes long.
What is the DC Comics series about?
The show follows Jefferson Pierce, a retired superhero who gave up his persona - Black Lightning - nine years ago due to the toll it was taking on his family.
However Jefferson is drawn back into being a vigilante again after a local gang forces an increase in crime and corruption in his town.
Matters are made even worse when his daughter is kidnapped by the gang, called the 100.
Who is in the Black Lightning cast?
Cress Williams
Cress Williams plays the titular character of Black Lightning/Jefferson Pierce.
The 47-year-old actor is best known for his roles in Prison Break and Hart of Dixie.
He's also appeared in Grey's Anatomy and Friday Night Lights.
China Anne McClain
China, 19, plays Jefferson's youngest daughter Jennifer who has a wild streak of her own and possesses her own powers.
The actress is best known for her role on Tyler Perry's House of Payne and Disney Channel original series A.N.T. Farm.
