Remember when Goldberg was the WWE Universal champion? One year after his match versus Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33, Goldberg will headline the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame class during next month’s WrestleMania 34 weekend festivities.
This is so pro wrestling, so even at 51 years of age and heading into the Hall of Fame, Goldberg will not fully confirm he is done with active competition. If you can win the sport’s top prize at 50-years-old, what’s stopping you from making another run at 51-years-old?
Speaking with the Washington Post to promote his upcoming induction, Goldberg was asked about a potential in-ring return.
“Do I want to roll the dice again? I don’t know. I’ll quote one of the most famous movies that I was ever in, ‘Santa’s Slay’: It ain’t over ‘til I say it’s over.”
The former one time WCW World Heavyweight Champion also commented about the Raw after WrestleMania 33, where he was able to bring his son into the ring with him.
“The angle was real and it was touching and it was true. I kind of left it all out there. It was a cleansing experience. I owe it all to Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar. They gave me the opportunity to be one of the coolest dads in the world and they didn’t have to do that.”
Is there anything left for Goldberg to prove inside a pro wrestling ring? Goldberg didn’t shut the door on one more match but he does some at peace with his decision to comeback to the WWE family.
If Goldberg did want another match before he retires (again), who should the WWE pair him up with?
